Novamelt® RC products are acrylic based UV curable hotmelts which were developed to meet the demanding requirements of high temperature resistance as well as resistance to chemicals, light and the weather.
Novamelt offers a wide range of products from low-adhesion removable types, alternatives with medium adhesion properties for repositionable applications, to very tacky permanent products. Many solvent-based acrylics can be replaced with UV-curable hotmelt adhesives reducing solvent emissions and helping the environment.
Self-adhesive technology offers an intelligent and economical alternative to mechanical fastening in many applications including self-adhesive labels, tapes, plasters, packaging or industrial intermediate products such as sound-dampening material. This product type is supplied in pails containing 39,6 lb or in steel drums containing 396 lb.
At room temperature, UV-curable hotmelt adhesive is of a honey-like consistency.
The adhesive is melted with a drum-unloader and coated at 250 to 300 °F, depending on the specific application, on a standard roller- or slot-die coating machine. After the coating process, the adhesive is in line UV-cured by passing under UV lamps.
